He is the Fort McMurray Catholic Schools nominee for the Edwin Parr Award. The Edwin Parr acknowledges outstanding first year teachers. Austin's calm demeanor, organizational skills, and ability to connect with students create a positive learning environment, which is evident in his effective use of diverse teaching methods and engagement strategies. 

His commitment extends beyond academics, as demonstrated by his coaching of an extracurricular basketball team and his collaborative efforts with colleagues to enhance educational opportunities for all students at Sister Mary Phillips School.
