Good afternoon Fort McMurray Catholic Schools families,

Due to the ongoing wildfire situation in the Fort McMurray region and the State of Local Emergency, all Fort McMurray Catholic Schools will be closed for the remainder of the week (May 15-17). At this time it is expected all schools will be in a position to reopen on May 21, 2024. 

We made this decision proactively to ensure families are together should additional evacuation orders come in our community. The safety of our students, families, and staff as always remains our top priority. 

Our prayers are with our first responders, our families, and our staff. We are incredibly grateful for the actions of our staff and families for ensuring a quick, calm, and orderly evacuation of our schools. 

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools uses trusted sources of wildfire information to make informed decisions. Please see our website at https://www.fmcschools.ca/wildfireinformation for wildfire and air quality information including wildfire dashboards, emergency alert info, smoke forecasts, traffic updates, and air quality updates. We have included mental health supports on this webpage as well. 

We encourage all families to stay up to date with the latest available information. We will continue to provide updates with factual information as quickly as possible.
